ES prefers the tap

Aug 2008

The Evening Standard weren't too keen on our Green Tea & Mint Firefly Water.

Whilst they admitted that agave nectar "may be slower release than other sugars", and "Green tea is a useful source of antioxidants", they found the taste "earthy".

They also made a rather maddening misprint (for which they've apologised), saying that our drink had "four tablespoons of sugars per bottle", when of course they meant teaspoons.
So, just to put the record straight, a bottle of Green Tea & Mint Firefly water contains 17.7g (about 3.5 teaspoons) of "sugars", all of which come from agave or juice.

And to put this in context, that's less than half the sugars and calories of "teeth-squeakingly sweet" this water.

To be honest, the Evening Standard weren't exactly glowing about any of the waters...

  • this water: "At over eight tsps of sugar per bottle I'm not sure this should be called water"
  • hint: "a hint of a chemical aftertaste"
  • V Water: "The orange colour and citric acid are the only things that really shine through the disappointment."

Well, you can't win 'em all.
